
From Avirox (aka Xavior) - Quake 4 Fortress 1.5 RC1 is the latest release candidate for Quake 4 Fortress. If there are no major bugs or glitches found in this then it will be released as the latest official Quake 4 Fortress build so I'd appreciate it if anyone could check it out and maybe take some time for a game or three. It contains the linux and windows builds. Again - this is NOT FINAL YET, but is a candidate for release. Grab it while it's hot.......

The Source Code for Quake 3 Fortress may be released Open Source in the near future from one of the original developers (RR2) from Splashdamage. It will be released under GPL licensing - this will allow people to create their own mods of it and release it with a Standalone engine. While the code is Opensource, that doesn't stand for all the media. The media can be repackaged, but the pak files must remain the same.
TFX has members already interested in porting and modifying Q3F to work with Open Arena and the XReaL engine. More info and download links can be found HERE. I will post any updates or announcements on this as soon as any news is available.

Team Fortress Classic 1v1 Soldier League is running now!

In response to the community, UGC is pleased to announce the opening of a new TFC 1v1 soldier/mulch ladder.
Sign up to compete for a chance to win a 12 slot server from #gorabid!!
The basic structure is "every man for himself". Players will be scheduled with an opponent on a weekly basis (specific opponents may be requested via the forums or through the ladder admin). Players may work out when they actually play. Match style will be traditional "mulch" play with 2 rounds with a frag limit of 20, no nail grenades, and jump to signal readiness. Players will play for rank and title, and periodically we will hold tournaments.
As outlined here, players already in our probation program may join, and banned players may also join subject to the approval of the other players in the ladder.
We are now taking signups and hope to see you join.

Fortress Forever 2.0 has been released!

GENERIC / Misc stuff:
* Walls no longer apply friction to grenades, concmaps should be possible now!
* Small auto-conc for HH concs when you dont jump
* Frag grenade damage up to 145 (patch 1.0 was 180, patch 1.11 was 126). Radius the same.
* Throwing the flag is now upwards slightly rather than skidding along the floor
* Re-added recoil for some weapons (e.g. IC)
* Suiciding no longer causes you to lose 100 fortress points
* bhop now 1.20 up from 1.10
* Better intermission scoreboard/player handling
* Made the currently held grenade timer bar more visible than the dropped ones
* pyro scream time only triggers once every 1.7 seconds now
* Added cl_reducedexplosions to help fps problems
* Added a cvar for ragdoll lifetime
* NEW!! assault cannon fire sound
Visuals:
* Grenades now have trails and halo's around them
* Blue and yellow pipes now have trails
* Player models have been tweaked to increase visibility

* HUD health / armor no longer flashes red when you are hit. It'll only flash red when you are < 25% health to prevent confusion. (instead it flashes white when hit)
* Grenade 2 timer up a bit so it's not so far down
* New explosion scorch decal which doesnt make your whole base black.
* 'on fire' hud HUD redness reduced a lot
* Cvars for turning off targets + gren trails (also in options menu)
* Teamcolour hud can now go back to normal again
Bug fixes:
* Grenade target timing bug
* Medkit fix. Should be much easier to heal people with medkit and spanner now, as friendlies are lag predicted now.
* Dispenser / SG health now displays properly on the HUD even if you are far away.
* CL_CopyExistingEntity crash fixed at last (!!)
* SG now tracks properly when built on a slope
* Death by burning is no longer a suicide
* Fixed LUA error causing security icons to disappear when players connected
* Fix for spies being able to sabotage when they're dead
* Demoman grenades hopefully dont bounce off people any more
* Readded interpolation for projectiles
* Put in a fix for grenade timers not showing up

zelTF is a standalone QWTF mod that can be played by anyone wanting to experience old school TF at it's best! Many updates have been applied to zelTF and version 1.3 is here! New features include:
- Now incredibly easy to redefine keys, simply click the settings shortcut, and all the keys are there to be edited in one convenient location.
- New and currently unreleased ezQuake 1.9 alpha.
- Auto ID script - now you know who your looking at.
- New high quality sound effects by Jeremiah Sypult (http://www.mindabuse.com/mindgrid/audio/quake)
- New sound notifications by zut - "red team has the blue flag", "megakill" etc sounds to notify you of flag status and kill streaks.
- New map dependent skyboxes.
- Fixed setinfo bug.
- Much smaller installation file ~100mb. Though a much smaller base map set. More will be downloadable from zelTF site.
- Communication binds are complete.
- New fragfile.dat - Touches now show on mbasesr, among other things.
- Fixed weapon and class scripts.
- Some defaults changed - Player with flag now glows green instead of purple which is confused with duck on 2night2. Dead bodies are no longer hidden so you can see feigning spys.
- Removed broken eyes.mdl.
- Replaced /fortress/base.pcx with default skin.
- Removed a bunch of useless files.
